an experienced skipper, learning in the sun is just so
much more fun!
Why not find out on one of our RYA certificated courses.
Centurion Yachting is an RYA recognised Training Centre.
Competent Crew:
This course
provides a general introduction to sail cruising so that
by the end of the week you should be able to tie knots,
steer the yacht, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy
and assist in all the day to day routines aboard.
Suggested minimum pre-course
experience: None, suitable for complete novices or dinghy sailors
wanting to get started in yachting.
Day
Skipper Practical (non-tidal):
This practical course gives you the chance to
take charge on short passages under instruction with advice
and help from the instructor. You'll also get plenty of
chance to practice mooring up in many different situations.
By the end of the course you should have enough experience
to safely skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by
day.
Suggested minimum pre-course experience: Completion
of the Competent Crew course or 5 days, 100 miles, 4 night
hours on board a sailing yacht. Basic navigation and sailing
ability. Day Skipper theory an advantage.
Coastal
Skipper Practical Sailing Course (non-tidal):

advanced skippering course suitable for those with considerable
knowledge of sailing and navigation that are usually aspiring
towards a Certificate of Competence.
Suggested
minimum pre-course experience:15 days, 2 days as skipper,
300 miles, 8 night hours. Assumed Knowledge : Navigation
to Coastal Skipper standard. Sailing to Day Skipper Practical

It's
not all hard graft on the courses, you are after all on

Pre-Flotilla
Training:
Often
couples, families or groups where at least one person has
some previous experience, spend the first week of their
holiday aboard a training yacht before taking their own
flotilla boat in the second week.
This
has proved an excellent way to learn as everyone benefits
from the training and their skills are fresh ready to enjoy
the thrill of taking charge of their own flotilla boat.
The first week can be either a certificated course or just
a skills brush-up.
All
training courses are run from our base on the Bodrum peninsular. |
